How to Configure an Email Account in Android




Follow the steps and provide the required information to configure your account.
  1. Select your email app located in the installed apps area. Android should come with a default email application.
  2. Fill in your email address and password.
  3. If given the option select manual setup.
  4. Select POP3 or IMAP (not sure which one to choose? See "POP3 vs IMAP. What's the difference?" Article).
  5. Fill in your username & password.
  6. Incoming mail server/POP3/IMAP server host name would be "mail.tomahawk.ca".
  7. Security Type: None OR SSL (SSL is recommended for increased security over open networks).
  8. Leave port number default (changes depending on the security type you selected). For a full list of all port numbers supported see this article.
  9. Optional, configure the delete email from server setting.
  10. Next.
  11. Outgoing mail server/SMTP Server host name is also "mail.tomahawk.ca"
  12. Security Type: None OR SSL (SSL is recommended for increased security over open networks).
  13. Leave port number default (changes depending on the security type you selected). For a full list of all port numbers supported see this article.
  14. Fill in your username & password (same details as your incoming mail server).
  15. Next.
  16. Your Android phone should now attempt to verify your account settings. Make sure you have a clear signal/connection as a poor a connection may take too long to verify and timeout.
  17. Done. You should now be able to send and receive email.

If you already have an email account setup and you want to modify its settings, launch your email app > select your phones additional settings button > settings >tap the name of your account. Then tap any information fields you want to adjust.
